Maintenance Officer
Our client is recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Officer to join the maintenance team based in their Welwyn Garden City Hostel.
Hours: Full – Time, (37.5 hours p/w)
Salary: £21,237
This job is responsible for providing general maintenance support within Welwyn Garden City and other allocated sites, ensuring that maintenance and health & safety requirements are identified and addressed and that day to day repairs are delivered to time and to standard. This includes delivering both planned schedules of repairs and unplanned maintenance work and covering carpentry and joinery, general plumbing, property maintenance (fixtures and fittings and furnishings), painting and decorating, and safety checks.
The key elements of the post are to:
Contribute to buildings maintenance provision within Peartree Lane and other allocated sites, including refurbishments and repairs, ensuring that planned schedules of work are completed to time and that urgent problems are identified and addressed
Comply with effective and efficient health & safety and risk management procedures and working practices at all times
Provide cover within other sites as required
Essential Knowledge, skills & Experience:
Knowledge within a maintenance craft discipline (eg carpentry, electrical, plumbing)
Knowledge across a range of general maintenance related areas (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, joinery, grinding, repairs, plastering, painting and decorating, furniture and equipment repairs)
Experience of providing buildings maintenance within a complex multi-purpose site
Good knowledge of health and safety and its application within buildings maintenance
Experience of risk assessment and safety testing
Knowledge of buildings maintenance related regulations
Numeracy for calculating requirements for repairs or other work
Full driving licence with own transport
