Job Title: Infrastructure Analyst
Location: London
Job Description:
This role will report to the IT Manager - Change within the IT Department. You will provide operational support to the IT department in an efficient and professional manner and in accordance with the agreed procedures and service standards. Your role will contribute to the overall success of the IT Department in achieving its objectives as part of overall Company Strategy.
Working with the Infrastructure Manager, be part of the team that design, plan, implement and support the delivery of the hardware, software and business application infrastructure required for IT projects and major enhancements to the underwriting, claims, finance and supporting systems. This will include but not be limited to:
Developing an appropriate secure and highly available IT environment across servers, desktops, mobile devices and the LAN/WAN/VPN and ensuring a continuing fitment for business purpose.
Ensuring the management and development of the physical and virtual server estate, Exchange and Active Directory complies with the IT Architecture.
Taking ownership of maintaining the non-production base infrastructure environments to support IT application owners with the software development life cycle (SDLC).
Working closely with the IT Run Team to assist in the smooth transition from project/enhancement to 'business as usual' production support.
Ensuring an appropriate framework exists for monitoring infrastructure, application and database events across the estate.
Maintaining a rich and concise infrastructure documentation library to facilitate knowledge sharing and retention within the department.
Together with all colleagues from the IT department, have a proactive approach to recommending improvements to systems, services and the reliability of the infrastructure
Person Specification:
3-5 years' experience in an infrastructure analysis / engineering role.
Enthusiastic, hardworking and driven individual with a focus on providing the best possible service.
Can demonstrate ability to work in a busy office environment, prioritise and organise workload in order to meet tight deadlines, including occasional out of hours working to support project deployment.
Able to learn and take on new tasks quickly and use own initiative to explore possibilities before raisin queries.
Demonstrates pride in delivering excellent, quality service and endeavours to exceed expectations.
Attention to detail in producing high quality output and able to maintain this when under pressure.
Excellent communication skills with confidence to ask questions to ensure job requirements are understood.
Commitment to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and quality of operational support evidenced through previous achievements.
Proactive, showing initiative when completing tasks by pre-empting issues and proposing solutions for them.
Confidence in building rapport and trust with a range of internal and external stakeholders & suppliers.
Confidence in working unsupervised and as part of a team to achieve personal and team objectives.
Flexible approach to work with a strong desire to learn and study towards relevant industry qualifications.
Experience with assisting software development teams and a basic understanding of the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
Willingness to travel to other offices and data centres a maximum of 1-2 days per month.
Academic qualifications: A Levels preferred. GSCE Mathematics C grade upwards required.
Required Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of Local and Wide Area Networks and protocols used
Experience in managing and configuring Microsoft Active Directory
Experience in managing and supporting Microsoft Exchange
Experience building and securing Wintel servers
PowerShell scripting skills
Knowledge of configuring and deploying switches, routers and firewalls, VPNs
Strong experience and knowledge of managing and deploying a virtual environment (preferably VMware and/or Hyper-V)
Experience of managing server and endpoint monitoring systems
Desired Skills:
Experience of Microsoft SQL Server
VDI experience
Experience with cloud services (e.g. Azure, Office 365)
Virtual Management Platforms e.g. SolarWinds/Unidesk//SCVMM
Microsoft Management Platforms e.g. SCCM
Experience of managing Thin Clients
Mobile Device Management experience
