A Board Chairman is sought for a leading membership organisation owned by the construction industry. The organisation is governed by 3 employer organisations and 2 unions representing the breadth of the construction sector.

The organisation works on behalf of its owners to ensure that managers, supervisors and workers have nationally recognised construction related qualifications, fulfilling the aim of ensuring that the workforce in the construction sector is fully qualified.

The organisation's logo on a certification card is the recognised hallmark that the holder has achieved the required standards of training and qualification for their occupation.

The organisation is managed by a Board of non-executive directors, nominated from the following organisations:
- Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA)
- Federation of Master Builders (FMB)
- GMB Union
- Build UK
- UNITE The Union
- The Construction Clients Group (CCG)
- The Construction Industry Council (CIC)

About the role
A Board Chairman is sought to provide outstanding leadership to ensure the organisation's objectives are achieved. He or she will also act as an ambassador and be the public face of the Company in partnership with the Chief Executive.

General
The Chairman will provide strategic leadership to the Board to ensure the organisation has maximum impact in fulfilling its duties and responsibilities. A willingness to commit to the objectives of the organisation and contributing to supporting innovation is a prerequisite for the role.

Experience
- Top level management and/or board level experience, gained within construction or other business sector
- Strategic leadership, planning and overseeing performance
- Chairing top level meetings effectively and efficiently, displaying impartiality and objectivity in the management of the board.

Skills
- Excellent facilitating and chairing of meetings to produce productive decision-making.
- Ability to execute the role of the Board whilst recognising the autonomy of the Executive Team.
