Bench Joiner

Huws Gray is currently looking for a Bench Joiner to join the team at the St Helens branch. The successful  candidate will join us on a full time permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary.

Since our formation in 1990, Huws Gray has developed from a single branch in Anglesey to one of the largest independent Builders Merchants in terms of branches. Including our Head Office in Anglesey we currently have over 50 branches stretching from Hay-on-Wye in Herefordshire up to Bolton in the North West and across to Derby in the Midlands.

Working as part of a team, and reporting to the mill foreman and branch management team, the Bench Joiner will be responsible for providing excellent customer service at all times.

Your key responsibilities as the Bench Joiner will include:

- Using all machines safely and correctly at all times

- Serving our customers politely and professionally

- Preparing orders and machining

- Maintaining machines to a high standard

- Unloading and loading vehicles (supplier wagons, transfer wagons & customer vehicles)

- Maintaining stock levels through the ordering procedure

- Keeping the mill clean and tidy

- Ensuring that the mill is a safe and secure environment

- Completing all necessary paperwork in line with Huws Gray procedures

Skills, Knowledge and Experience required by the Bench Joiner:

- A good team player who can also work on your own initiative

- A good communicator

- Approachable, positive and polite

- Motivated, energetic and passionate about your work

- Flexible

- Willing to learn new skills and procedures

- Aware of the importance of safety in the workplace

- Physically fit

- In possession of basic numeracy skills

- In possession of basic knowledge of hardwoods

- Enthusiastic

- A good understanding of all aspects of bench joinery

- Be able to maintain a high standard of workmanship on all completed projects

Training on the machines and forklifts will be provided.
