Location: Based in Chorley, Lancashire or remotely at one of the Leisureplex Hotels and delivering a nation wide service

Salary: circa £40k – £50k, subject to experience and relevant qualifications.

The Company

The company is part of Alfa Leisureplex, an employee owned hospitality and travel group, with turnover of almost £40m per annum. The company owns and operates 22 hotels in coastal locations across England, Scotland and Wales. Leisureplex has two sister companies: Alfa Travel, a coach holiday operator and Alfa Coaches a coach operator with a garage near Chorley. Leisureplex is the primary provider of hotel accommodation to Alfa Travel.

 

About the job

You will be responsible for overseeing and managing planned maintenance contracts and all compliance issues relating to the group's 22 hotels as well as the head office and garage. Liaising with two Regional Managers and our retained Project Manager and reporting to the Managing Director, you will work with an annual budget of £2.5m, of which roughly £1m is spent on hotel maintenance and £1.5m on cyclical hotel refurbishment.

 

The role involves managing annual servicing and replacement of plant and equipment, regular bedroom refurbishment and managing the design, installation and commissioning of services and associated builders work to meet project targets. You will have responsibility for the tendering of building services and appointing suitable designers and sub contractors. On major capital projects, you will work with our retained Project Manager.

 

Due to the nature of our business the planning of the work will take place throughout the year, with the execution taking place over the relatively short winter closure. Projects must be well planned in order to meet both budget and time constraints.

 

This role is primarily office based, either at our Central Offices in Chorley or else at one of our Leisureplex Hotels (subject to the home town of the successful candidate). If the latter, you will be expected to attend Management Meetings in our Central Offices near Chorley every 6 weeks, as well as spending several days/month in this office, approving payments to contractors and other invoices for maintenance related goods. Although travel to sites will be required, most work is carried out under the supervision of local hotel managers or our retained Project Manager.

Who they are looking for:

  • An intelligent, numerate Manager, who has empathy with an elderly customer base and who can manage effectively on a remote basis.
  • Committed to studying to gain at least a BTEC in Building Services Engineering, Operations and Maintenance Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or HNC / HND / Degree in Building Services Engineering
  • A strong commercial awareness
  • A systematic approach to managing geographically widespread properties
  • Excellent IT skills
  • The ability to provide advice and support to Hotel Managers at remote locations without necessarily travelling to site.
  • Excellent communication and strong management skills
  • An enquiring mind and a robust and no nonsense management style
  • Experience of commercial catering/kitchen requirement, would be beneficial
