Due to continued growth and off the back of significant investment in the business our Client , who are one of the UK's most successful Maintenance and Repair organisations, are looking to hire a compressed gas fitter to work on a full time and permanent basis at their site close to Stansted Airport.
The main purpose of the role is to carry out repairs, testing and overhaul to a variety of compressed gas cylinders. There will also be hydrostatic testing and charging of complete assemblies.
Duties include:
• Strip down of valve assemblies
• Replace standard spares as part of the overhaul process
• Inspect individual parts and replace defective items.
• Thorough clean of components
• Build-up valve assemblies ready for testing on various flow rigs
• Hydrostatic testing of cylinders in accordance with Department of Transport requirements
• Re-assembly of the valve and cylinder components
• Charge the complete assemblies to pressures of up to 4500 PSI
• Provide ad hoc support, as required, to the safety inflatable team
To be successful in this position we are looking for candidates who have the following skills:
• Ability to work well in multi-discipline/cross-functional teams
• Working within a small team of skilled technicians, reliability, flexibility and team work are key skill requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build close-knit relationships
• Strong organisation skills and excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and multi task whilst maintaining a high degree of quality, workmanship and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Strong communicator (written and verbal)
• Creative and outgoing
• Positive, enthusiastic, confident and motivated
The successful candidate must be used to an engineering workshop environment with experience of working with maintenance/assembly/compliance manuals. Those candidates who have specific experience with gas cylinders, oxygen systems and gas valves will be given preference. All candidates must also have a strong command of English and be numerate and literate to minimum GCSE standards.
