We are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Engineer to join the developing Hydro Team, which is currently part of the established London & South East Civil Engineering Design Team. The role is more likely to be based in our Ashford Office, but could be in our London Office, and is on a permanent basis.

The role is to provide a pro-active supporting function to the existing senior level engineering staff. The successful candidate will be able to take responsibility for their element of the design process for a range of infrastructure for predominantly private sector development schemes.

The role sits between the senior staff, the technicians and CAD operator positions, so the successful candidates will be expected to delegate to and manage the activities and outputs of the more junior team members.

Key responsibilities / Duties will include:

??To support the production of flood risk assessments, drainage designs and utilities enquiries and provision for all types and scales of development projects
??Delegate and manage the CAD and technician resource in the delivery of outputs to agreed deadlines
??Liaise with the design teams and client representatives on active projects, to manage and procure deliverables on time
??To deliver projects within budget constraints
??Assist with the preparation of technical appraisals, feasibility / conceptual and detailed designs and associated cost estimates
??Attend sites to carry out and/or assist with surveys, liaise with clients/contractors and monitor works as required
??Assist and/or supervise other team members working within the section
??Keep up to date with current developments within the area of operation and continue to gain a wider knowledge of PBA's overall business and operations
??Ensure that due attention is paid to all aspects of the Practice Management System (PMS) in accordance with the Practice's procedures.

About You

The successful candidate will have some experience and will be working towards Chartership.
The candidate will require:

??A degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification
??Have experience of flood risk assessment
??Have experience in drainage and attenuation design and specification
??Experience of the delegation and management of technician and CAD resources
??Have excellent communication and written skills with the ability to both compile and check reports
??Competent in the use of Microsoft Office programmes
??Working knowledge of industry standards appropriate to flood risk and drainage
??The ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders
