ROLE: Project Engineer
LOCATION: Derby
SALARY: GBP40'000 - GBP50'000

HOURS: 36.25 hours - Mon to Fri
Experience required:
- 5 years' experience of carrying out and executing capital projects between GBP100'000 and GBP1'000'000 from Idea stage to completion
- Food industry background or similar is preferred (but not essential)
- Solid Project Management experience
Job Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer this person will be responsible for implementing and continuously seeking to improve the manufacturing processes within our operation.
- This person will work closely with the site Production and Maintenance teams.
Strategic
- Review plant and processes with Euro Operations to continually improve all aspects of efficiency, waste/yield, quality, service and safety
- Develop a 3-year capital plan for operations with the manufacturing team.
- Lead on the implementation of capital investment projects from the concept through to the execution phases
- Develop and establish best practice engineering standards with the site engineering manager
- Lead the implementation of NPD and EPD projects during the realisation phase into the manufacturing environment.
- Lead on all aspects of energy reduction and utility optimisation at the derby site
- Lead continuous improvement activities on current managements & manufacturing processes.
- All manufacturing process activities to be aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles, ISO9001 quality standards, ISO14001 environmental standards, and GMP (ISO22715) principles.
Managerial
- Identification and implementation of capital investment projects, including automation projects to support strategic objectives.
- Implementation planning and delivery of NPD & EPD projects into manufacturing.
- Development of operator and team leader training programmes to support manufacturing strategic objectives
- Development of maintenance programmes to support these strategic objectives with the site engineering manager.
- Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to support manufacturing strategic objectives
- Continual improvement of processes and procedures, to support manufacturing improvement particularly relating to capital investment projects, through risk assessment
- Undertaking lead role on validation programmes for new equipment installations and new process implementations.
- Monitoring and reporting of agreed KPI's that support the strategic objectives
- Raising the engineering capability of operational teams and engineers.
Previous Knowledge/Experience
- Experienced project engineer, with a proven track record in managing capital projects from concept to the execution phase
- Experience of plant installation projects, involving high levels of automation
- Proven experience in project management in process industries and automation
- Experienced project engineer with a chemical, electrical or mechanical background in engineering
- Ability to negotiate and manage contractors and suppliers effectively
- Experience in leading hazard studies and in hazardous area assessment
- Experience of lean manufacturing processes and tools
Qualifications and skills
- Good level of IT capability including, but not limited to, Word and Excel, Autocad and MS Project (Ideally)
- HND or similar
- Good level of literacy
- Good written and spoken English
- Good numerical ability
- Previous experience in budgetary control
- Project Management experience or qualification
