The Company and the Role:
The Company is one of the UK's leading independent Foodservice Wholesalers supplying multi temperature products to foodservice clients throughout the UK. They are seeking a Food Buyer/ Trader for their Commercial Department based at their Head Office in Gloucestershire. The position is permanent.

Key Features of the Role:
The role of Food Buyer / Trader is an integral part of the Company's small Commercial Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a defined portfolio of suppliers and therefore will need to be extremely self-motivated, able to work efficiently and independently within time constraints and have sufficient experience in excel.

Responsibilities of the role are:
Maintain strong and positive relationships with agreed portfolio.
Effectively deliver and track supplier revenues.
Achieving commercial income targets.
Sourcing new product lines, in line with internal business strategy whilst maintaining focus on external customer retention and development strategy.
Ongoing price management, ensuring the Company remains competitive in the market place.
Packaging regulatory awareness and compliance.
Work closely with Marketing Controller to ensure trading strategy dovetails with channel, operator and consumer insight.
Build strong working relationships with internal customers, both employees and visitors alike.

Knowledge and Skills:
The successful candidate will be an experienced Buyer or Assistant Buyer ideally with experience having been gained with a food wholesale, cash and carry or food retail environment.
However. whilst knowledge and experience of the foodservice sector would be advantageous, it is not necessary as we are looking for candidates who can really demonstrate commercial acumen, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
You will demonstrate the Company's values by being Commercial, Friendly, Nurturing and Proud.
You will be highly self-motivated, able to work efficiently and independently within time constraints.
Ideally you will have a good understanding of key metrics that impact the commercial revenues e.g. ORD's /Marketing / Rebates / Category Leadership value.
You will be numerate, have excellent presentation and communication skills, be able to communicate at all levels and be decisive, assertive and persuasive.
You will enjoy a high level of autonomy and therefore must be highly self-motivated to achieve agreed goals.
You will have strong negotiating and relationship skills and able to manage your own time effectively
A full driving licence is a prerequisite.

Basic salary is negotiable and will be around GBP35-40k per annum depending upon your experience. In addition, there is 25 days' holiday, Staff Discount Scheme, Pension Scheme, Life Assurance, Death in Service, Childcare Vouchers, Savings Scheme and a Staff Lottery.
