The Role - Maintenance Engineering Technician
As a Maintenance Engineering Technician, once 'on-the-job' training is complete, you will be involved in a variety of activities within the facilities team, with specific responsibilities, such as;
To work alongside and provide additional support to the facility team members, delivering facility services
To carry out your own individual maintenance and engineering tasks to support the maintenance schedule and the delivery of small engineering activities
To be actively involved in small engineering projects and process improvements
To work with 3rd party contractors in delivering maintenance and engineering solutions
To carry out semi-skilled facility services (handyman activities) as and when required within your trained remit, such as; minor building fabric repairs and decoration, basic plumbing, electrical and mechanical tasks
Following a detailed program of professional training, education and knowledge gain, your extended responsibilities will then include;
To conduct relevant MEWP operations to carry out facility and project related activities
To be a fully integrated member of the facilities team, delivering planned maintenance, reactive and project activities in line with statutory requirements
To co-manage the facility store area and ensure that all relevant tooling and materials are available to conduct all facility activities and projects
To fulfill all relevant documentation requirements for the role
Provide relevant technical support for facility related activities
To operate within the Siemens 'permit to work' system for all facility related activities
To be part of the 'out of hours' call-out support team (on a rotational basis)
Your Background - Maintenance Engineering Technician
To be considered for this excellent role, you should be able to demonstrate the following experience:
Logical thinker
Calm manner
Good organisational skillsGoes the 'extra mile' to deliver results
Good written, verbal, numeracy and IT communications skills in English
Capable of working using own initiative; self-motivated
A 'doer' and a 'fixer'
Flexible and adaptable Quality and safety conscious
Positive and proactive approach to problem solving; as an individual or as a team
Education:
Essential:
Good secondary education, with Maths, English, and IT
Practical hands-on experience in an engineering/manufacturing/maintenance discipline (ideally with qualification - however, the qualification is not essential)
Desired:
Experience of engineering maintenance and project works within a similar environment
City & Guild (or equivalent BTEC) qualification in one or more of the following disciplines; Painting and Decorating, Basic Plumbing, and Carpentry & Joinery, Electrical, air conditioning
IPAF trained and harness trained
The desired candidate would, ideally, have the relevant skills, training, knowledge and education to carry out their daily activities, however, this is not completely necessary for the right type of person. It is more important that we find the type of person who is willing, committed, and driven to want to succeed.
