New opportunity not to be missed! Lancaster City Council has a unique opportunity available for an Information Governance Manager to join the Council's Information Governance function. The role is a full time, permanent position offering a salary of £34,101 - £38,879 per annum (inclusive of a market supplement of £2,500 subject to review after 2 years). This may be subject to change.

Working in the Lancaster District, which includes an enviable and diverse mix of historic city, seaside town, extensive rural areas and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our Information Governance Manager will develop, implement and maintain Information Governance policies and procedures and controls to manage the Council's information assets.

The Council is looking to develop its corporate Information Governance function to meet current and future challenges in information management, security and assurance and to exploit opportunities for more effective information sharing.

What are the responsibilities of the Information Governance Manager?

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual  to play a leading professional and key strategic role in developing the corporate Information Governance function including designing and implementing an effective Information Governance framework across the Council and its operations.

You will be required to take a proactive approach to developing the Council's arrangements, working with managers and staff at all levels within the organisation and providing support and guidance to both employees and elected members in meeting their information responsibilities.

The post is responsible for supervising and monitoring the work of the Information Governance Officer whose responsibilities are focused on the administration and coordination of routine demands surrounding information management, including requests under the Freedom of Information Act, the Data Protection Act and liaison with the Local Government Ombudsman.

What do we look for in an Information Governance Manager?

You must be able to demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge and ability, whilst also possessing excellent communication and organisational skills.

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant area or have recognised information governance qualifications in data protection and/or freedom of information and Environmental Information, and/or records management areas.

The Information Governance Manager will be required to hold a full, current UK Driving Licence and access to a car for work use. You must be willing to attend regional working groups and training events in the areas of information management/security.

The hours of work will be 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. You will be based at Lancaster Town Hall, in the historic city of Lancaster. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
