HARP is a Southend-on-Sea charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives. Each day our staff work with individuals to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poor mental health or drug and alcohol dependency. From supporting people in crisis to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment, we make a difference to over 1,000 lives every year.
HARP is currently recruiting for a Housing Income Co-ordinator to join our Service Operations Team. This post is based within the Housing Income Team which sits within the wider supported housing service operation team.
The Housing Income Team maintains very close links with a number of teams, including our supported housing accommodation services teams throughout the borough to ensure efficient and effective processes are in place to manage rental income, rent top up, service charges and arrears with all of our tenants.
Reporting into the Service Operations Manager, the post holder will:
- Work under the leadership and guidance of the Service Operations Manager to provide a responsive and customer orientated rent management service to accommodation managers and tenants;
- Liaise with the local authority Housing Benefits team and Department of Work & Pensions over housing, welfare benefits and other related operational matters;
- Participate in the improvement in HARP's rent management system;
- Controlling and following up debts in the rental management system for the entire housing stock as well as assisting in the setting of rents and services charges on new properties.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in a housing, social services, residential care or supported housing;
- Arrears management and business administration experience;
- Experience using appropriate rent management systems and/or accounting software packages;
- A track record of building or developing relationships with dispersed services and external organisations.
