The Role
An exciting opportunity is available within the Analytical Services business as a Section Manager. The role is based at the site in Manchester and involves managing the Organics department within the Environment Division. The role involves leading a team of Analysts and Technicians effectively to ensure maximum performance and profitability.

Main Duties to:
- Day-to-day scheduling of the workload within the laboratory.
- Ensuring the ISO17025:2005 standard is maintained.
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained.
- Overseeing training of new members of staff.
- Monitoring spend and performance of the laboratory.
- Complying with health and safety requirements of the site as stated within Company Policy, Procedure and Practice.
- Technical checking of results.
- Input into the quality of the Laboratory.
- Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management.
- Maintaining tidy work areas.
- Agreeing and meeting targets as specified by the Laboratory Manager.
- Undertaking other tasks as delegated/allocated by the Laboratory Manager.
- Awareness of your own training needs in a changing environment and where necessary bringing these to the attention of the Laboratory Manager.
- Responsible for own training record, and ensuring Technician/Analyst's training records are correctly filled in on time.
- Act as an ambassador for the company brand and values.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- Relevant degree.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of Organic Chemistry.
- Team Leadership.
- High level of interpersonal skills.
- Robust project management capability.
- Adept at coaching and mentoring team members and guiding career development.

Working Hours

- 37.5 hours per week with flexibility required to meet the needs of the business.
