Something BIG is happening! It's been gathering momentum for some years, but things are really starting to ramp up. Stem cells are saving lives now. And tomorrow they will save even more.
They are in the process of recruiting three dynamic graduates who want to be part of a successful team of Technologists in the field of stem cells.
Based at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Hospital Trust (with some travel required within the area).
Duties include:
- You will be taught how to procure and retrieve cord blood following delivery of the placenta using aseptic techniques.
- You will be responsible for interviewing potential mothers to obtain consent and medical history information, exercising good inter-personal skills and maintaining confidentiality of information.
- Ensure the efficient functioning of all aspects of procurement and retrieval to the required regulatory and accredited standards.
- Assist in developing the service in anticipation of future clinical or research needs working to set monthly targets for recruitment, collection and banking.
- Required to update donor recruitment and collection records written and/or electronic, to take receipt of and account for, incoming materials and organise storage, shipment of donations, samples and documentation to the relevant laboratory.
- Promote the Benefits of Stem cells and their usage in an unbiased nature to gain informed consent for either Family banking or Donation.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Ideally educated to a degree level
- Holding a current Venipuncture certificate is essential
- Holding a current UK driving license is essential
Preferred skills:
- Bilingual or multilingual with an ability to translate fluently from second language to English and vice versa to enable informed consent.
- Presenting and Public Speaking skills are advantageous
Contract:
This is an initial two year fixed contract, with the possibility to extend.
