Knitwear Designer - Men's and Women's

My client is a respected Leicester based supplier of Men's and Ladies Knitwear, to some exciting names in High St Fashion. With their own inhouse sampling facilities, and working on both short and long lead time product, this is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Knitwear Designer to take the next step in their career and shine.

We are looking for a talented and experienced Designer, who has a flair and passion for Knitwear, dedicated and ambitious, to join an established team, focused on growing the business.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Be a key member of a small dedicated design team
• Designing and developing knitwear for a number of high profile high street retailers
• Have the full backing of a unique in-house sampling facility with the latest electronic knitting machinery
• Research fashion trends, producing trend boards, catwalks and sketches
• Attend yarn/fashion shows & travel overseas on intel. shopping trips
• Present new ideas, developments and samples to buyers/designers
• Ability to translate initial ideas & concepts into commercial designs
• Liaise with our overseas factories and to produce detailed design sheets for sampling
• Attend regular sales/development meeting with customers

Person requirements:

• A fashion degree
• Experience of designing knitwear for the High Street
• Competent Photoshop/Illustrator CAD skills
• Organised & a good communicator
• Able to work in a fast paced environment, anticipate needs and have a pro-active approach
• Strong organisation skills, full awareness of CP and working to deadlines
• Excellent presentation skills, should be enthusiastic and passionate
• Good written and verbal communication
• Must be a team player with a willingness to take direction and eager to learn
