Behind the scenes we process GBP7bn of payments, handle over 23,000 IT helpdesk calls and make sure everyone's wages are paid on time.

Brief Description

To provide technical engineering input, support and advice across a specified Capability Function
The National Records Group / Business Services team is part of Route Services and our main focus is to deliver records management services to the routes.
Within our Isolation Diagram team we have an exciting opportunity to lead a team of Engineers who provide essential services to our customers.
You will manage the relationship with customers, stakeholders and asset managers in relation to the isolation diagram service.
You will be responsible for managing the process of updating all traction power isolation documentation. You will provide custodianship of AC traction power related drawings / diagrams for the routes. This service will provide real time records update and management of isolation diagrams to support Network Rail projects and Operations. You will take the lead in facilitating the introduction of a common set of design standards for isolation works and rationalisation of all diagrams and instructions. You will participate in the future management of Comprehensive Track Diagrams (CTDs) to facilitate future SCADA system requirements. Integration with the SCADA screen configuration processes. Lead on opportunities to develop the service to manage and control additional business critical records that detail our electrification assets on behalf of the routes.
The National Records Group is a fully practiced managed department.

About the role (External)

Key Accountabilities:

1. Provide expert advice, input and support associated with the provision of services for our customers & suppliers
2. Support the development of technical strategy within the specialist subject area aligned to the asset management policy working in liaison with experts internally and externally.
3. Discharge Network Rail's CDM related duties as required by company policy and standards.
4. Support the specification, design and delivery of programmes for the development of technical capability required within the specialism covering the development of competence frameworks and associated training materials for energy services, our customers and suppliers.
5. Support the process for whole life support and configuration management of data, software and modelling tools associated with the energy sub system
6. Provide technical input to accident and incident investigations and input to resulting recommendations.
7. Proactively research and respond to changes in the internal and external requirements and practice, which impact upon policy, standards, specifications, new technology development, and training interventions.
8. Support relevant research & development, business process improvement and innovation, developing business cases and supporting project delivery as required
9. Support the specialist input to corporate and engineering assurance activities including management of system risk managed through System Review Panel (SRP), product acceptance, asset verification and vehicle acceptance
10. Act as Delivery Manager for delivery of a specific project or portfolio of projects, within time, quality and cost parameters
11. Support professional leadership for a designated function or teams
12. Support engineering analysis and risk assessment, including assessment of applications for derogations and non-compliance
13. Represent Network Rail externally to the industry and input into European issues as required

Job skills, experience and qualifications:

Essential

• Incorporated Engineer or demonstrate equivalent experience
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience
• A good knowledge of applicable policies, standards and legislation for efficient management of an energy distribution system
• Broad engineering and asset management experience
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation

Desirable

• Membership of a relevant technical or professional body
• Chartered Engineer
• Knowledge of Project Management
• Experience in managing commercial, contractual and financial issues
• Knowledge of asset management principles aligned to PAS55, business case development and whole life cost analysis
• Knowledge of the railway industry and a understanding of railway infrastructure
