Coil Winder

My client is a leading name in the manufacture of large power generation equipment, based in Leeds, the company are looking for Coil Winders to join the team, The ideal candidate will have experience in the field of coil winding, Motor winding also transfers

Scope
To produce coil assemblies for use in power transformer manufacture. Including efficient machine set-up. Cutting and preparing insulation. Winding paper insulated copper strip and enamel coated wire, carrying out crossovers and layer changes to dimensions specified in design wiring diagrams. Clamping and stoving of completed coil assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
o To carry out all production operations in accordance with the company health & safety policy. Ensuring your personal safety and that of others working in your area.
. Accurately read I interpret winding schematic diagram's to gain understanding of manufacturi ng req u irements
. Set up machine for production to priority schedule, maximising production efficiency by ensuring correct use of former / cylinder, wire stand loading, conductor strip alignment to former / cylinder and tensioning clamp
coils in accordance with specification detailed in winding schematic diagram. Paying strict attention to the quality requirements in relation to:
o Fit insulation materials (Lead taping, ducting, key strip & edge strip fitting) and anchor
tapes to cylinder in accordance with specification detailed in winding sheet.
o Insulation between pressure points - Start lead & first turn, Crossovers, layer change and returns on spiralwindings
o Lead numbering
o All dimensions - Inside diameter, radial depth & finish length
. Ensure Work in Progress coils are fully protected between operations by covering with appropriate moisture, debris and dust protection materials
o Clamp and stove completed coil assemblies to ensure correct axial dimensions and maximum moisture procedures are adhered to
. Ensure that your immediate work area, surrounding factory space and general working environment are kept clean and tidy.
. Ensure all quality control and customer specific documentation has been completed to specification.
. Any other reasonable request you are instructed to do that you have received adequate instruction and training to carry out.
Manufacture HV and LV Power, Air Cooled, Distribution and Continuous Disc transformer

Preferred Qualifications / Experience
. Apprentice trained in electrical / mechanical engineering.
. Experience of operating rotating machinery in a production strip winding environment
o Experience of reading, understanding and interpreting electrical / mechanical drawings
Experience of forming, running, insulating and terminating strip copper cables o Welding, brazing, soldering experience
Applicants with alternative qualifications / experience may be considered for training:
o Skilled or Semi-Skilled motor winder / rewind operator with experience of forming, running, insulating and terminating any type of conductive cables
o Skilled or Semi-Skilled CNC or Centre Lathe operator with experience of forming, running, insulating and terminating any type of conductive cables
. Skilled or Semi-Skilled Fitter with experience of with experience of forming, running, Crane, slinging and lifting experience
