Outline of the role

You will be supporting the Legal Network, as a Client Monies Legal cashier. This is a varied role which includes reviewing reports, processing receipts and payments. You will work closely with OneFinance teams including Cash Management, Client Ledger and Accounts payable, as well as liaising closely with the R&Q team. The role encompasses all teams and grades within the Legal Network and your support is essential to assist with Client monies management and compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.

Essential skills

  • Understanding SAR's and compliance, and being a champion of client monies and compliance.
  • Banking of client receipts within SAR's, documenting and processing, to include transfer of funds from Client Account to Office Account.
  • Processing direct bank receipts and payment, preparation of cheques, to include finding partner approval and bankline releasing.
  • Reviewing codes and preparing interest calculations where appropriate.
  • Reconciling statements and preparing them for sign off by Partners.
  • Updating of breach and observation log.
  • Organising payment of Counsel's fees and Expert fees, sending fee notes or invoices to AP and tracking them to ensure compliance with the rules and transferring of funds.
  • Investigating surplus funds and following up on a resolution.
  • Regular sharing of knowledge to aid compliance and continuity during absences.
  • Compliance with Legal specific policies and risk management procedures
  • Supporting AP with processing and routing Vendor invoices to correct validator/approver
  • Checking invoice details and checking VAT description
  • Monitoring the progress and ensuring smooth passage through to the approval and payment stage
  • Supporting the Legal Network by tracking process of invoices through to payment and notifying cashier team so that funds can be transferred.


Desirable skills

  • Experience of cashiering of alternative accounting function
  • Knowledge of PwC finance systems, including GFS
