Training and Project Manager - Equality & Diversity Leadership Construction Industry

We are seeking a commercial, training professional to help us drive change in the construction industry, persuading our clients to create a fairer more inclusive workplace. If you have a passion for equality and diversity, ability to engage at a senior level in the construction industry and have run a variety of engaging programmes we would like to hear from you.

We are passionate about sustainability and are recognised thought leaders. Our leading consultancy, founded in 2006, established with the aim of leading and inspiring sustainable business. Our experienced consultancy team provides specialist business advice, training, and practical tools to leading organisations such as Skanska, Cobham, Balfour Beatty, Network Rail, Siemens and British Land. Notable successes are our authoring of the world’s first standard for sustainable procurement ISO20400 in 2017, the launch of the multi-award winning Supply Chain School in 2013, in 2014 and the development of the industry leading Fairness, Inclusion & Respect (FIR) programme in 2015.

The (FIR) programme’s key objective is to raise awareness of the Fairness, Inclusion and Respect issues within the construction industry with the ultimate objective of making the industry a more attractive, diverse and welcoming place to work for all.

Demand for FIR training has been significantly higher than expected and during 2016 our Employer Leadership Group have helped to move the FIR agenda to one of central importance to many major clients and employers. As a result, the current project has delivered 50% more people trained than we originally targeted, and we now have a 5-year programme of activity set out to reach 2,500 individuals and build a national network of 500 FIR Ambassadors.

The purpose of Training and Project Manager role will be to lead the delivery of the FIR programme through:

+ Delivering the outputs and deliverables of the FIR programme as set out in the annual business plan and our grant agreement with CITB. This includes:
- Building and supporting a network of FIR Ambassadors
- Involving a target number of individuals from a target number of companies (around 75% of them to be small and medium enterprises) into FIR Activities – including workshops and events
- Developing (with the assistance of the wider Action Sustainability team and Marketing Manager) a marketing plan to engage individuals and businesses into the FIR programme, for example through:
- Regular industry public relations, Social media (LinkedIn, Twitter etc), Targeted, personalised communications, connecting with wider School and industry initiatives and external conferences and events
+ Establishing and implementing a process for expanding and supporting the FIR Ambassadors network in a way that brings maximum benefit for the individuals involved, their employers and the industry
+ Delivering some FIR engagement workshops and events (based on material that has already been developed and used)
+ Maintaining and authoring content on relevant sections of our FIR Pages and in our online resource library
+ Establishing process to better record the extent to which FIR Toolkit materials have been used, measuring their impact and collecting feed-back on them
+ Establishing process to better record learner progress and support people on their learning journeys
