BMR Solutions are currently recruiting for a Project Manufacturing Engineer to work for our client who are a large engineering / manufacturing company located in Clevedon, North Somerset.

Title: Cell Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: GBP32,000 - GBP42,000

Location: North Somerset

Following a restructure of the Manufacturing Engineering department they have an urgent need for 5 x Cell Manufacturing Engineers covering the following areas: Inventory / Mechanical / Electrical / Final Assembly / Test.

The purpose of these roles are to own the manufacturing system within the allocated manufacturing cell(s) by the creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the safe and LEAN processes for existing and new products to ensure operations on time to standard and within budget within the allocated manufacturing cell

Qualifications: Engineering degree or equivalent

Experience:

- Experience of working within an assembly environment
- Use of risk mitigation tools to control risks within processes and prioritise risk to be mitigated
- Relevant experience in implementing the principles of lean manufacturing
- Project management experience including implementation of complex and technically challenging projects
- Experience of utilising problem solving and root cause analysis tools in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in optimising production processes as well as providing production support and training.
- Design for manufacture knowledge
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
- Previous experience in key manufacturing principles such as TPM, 8D, 6S problem solving, product responsibility, continuous improvement process.

Goals:

- To design, prove, implement and maintain Cell manufacturing system to deliver existing, customised and new products safely, on time to standard and within budget according the required yield and efficiency level
- To implement, own and continuously improve the manufacturing cell's LEAN manufacturing processes according the guidelines of the Vacuum Technique Production System
- Documented and traceable processes for the allocated manufacturing Cell in compliance to our current regulations in terms of ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS18001
- Active training process, procedures, documentation and traceability to create and sustain the workforce competences within the allocated manufacturing cell
- Ownership and accountability to resolve or support any non-conformity, internal or external, impacting the manufacturing process of the allocated cell
- Elimination of routing and material variances impacting financial results of Product company
- Validated designs for manufacturing with accurate BOM

Tasks:

- Accountable for the definition, setup and optimisation of the processes within the allocated manufacturing cell
- Establish, monitor, correct and improve the process performances of the allocated work cell in terms of capability and capacity
- Accountable for the accuracy and optimisation of manufacturing technical data (including routings and build notes) within the allocated manufacturing cell
- Manage the effective implementation of appropriate Lean tools and methodologies in accordance with the guidelines of the Vacuum Technique Production System (VTPS) within the allocated manufacturing cell
- Is owner and responsible for the compliance of the production processes to current regulations in terms of Health, Safety and Environment
- Accountable for the definition, setup, preparation and optimisation of manufacturing tooling and test solutions.
- Implement and maintain PFMEA for allocated manufacturing cell
- Implement and maintain risk assessments and manual handling reviews for allocated manufacturing cell
- Perform cut in investigation for the EC implementation process and ownership of the consequential phase out/in process for the involved parts and products.
- Coordinate and support root cause investigation and solution implementation for external rejects with SQE department
- Support first of kind and manufacturing process inspections for customers
- Implement and maintain suitable metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Manufacturing process in the allocated Cell
- Support make or buy investigations for assemblies within the allocated manufacturing cell
- Support outsourcing for make or buy identified assemblies within the allocated manufacturing cell
- Encourage innovation to reduce costs and workflows and guarantees the feasibility and reproducibility of the process of the allocated manufacturing cell
- Support setup of internal traceability of all products that go through PC Clevedon
- Perform time studies for the assembly processes to create the correct routings and to optimise the balancing of the assembly process
- Provide technical support to the manufacturing operational team where needed
- Value stream mapping and specification and implementation of in and outbound logistical flows for the manufacturing cells
- Setup of training programs and ensure compliance follow up of workforce for new products and processes within flow team
- Provide where needed support to procurement for the setup of the logistical parameters linked to the requirement of the manufacturing cell
- Analysis of root cause for safety incidents within the allocated manufacturing cell with the support of EHS
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve issues as they arise from internal non conformities or external FRACAS
