Head Cook - Evening Shift

£18,063 to £19,664 per annum, pro rata

30 hours per week including some weekend working

Fircroft is a residential college occupying a former Cadbury family home, set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. We were originally founded to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society. One hundred years on from the birth of Fircroft College, its mission of 'social justice' is more relevant than ever. Fircroft is a thriving and ambitious College with a vast and diverse community of learners and a strong ethos.

Fircroft is currently in an exciting phase of improvement and development, we are now in a position to appoint a Head Cook (Evening Shift) to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to work alongside and support the Conference and Support Team Leader to provide a high quality food service at the College.

To be considered for this role you must have experience of the preparation and cooking of main meals on a commercial level. You will have experience of planning and monitoring menus and the ability to manage a budget. You'll currently hold a Basic Food Hygiene certificate as a minimum but ideally at Level 3, together with a NVQ or equivalent in catering. We're looking for someone with good communication skills, who works well as part of a team, ideally with experience of supervising staff.

The right person will be someone who enjoys working at a fast pace with a variety of different tasks, who is self-managed with a strong work ethic, who has a positive outlook and a 'can do' attitude and is a completer / finisher.
