Assistant Cook

Evening Shift

£16,194 to £17,571 per annum, pro rata

22.5 hours Monday to Friday plus weekend working on alternate weeks.

Fircroft is a residential college occupying a former Cadbury family home, set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. We were originally founded to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society. One hundred years on from the birth of Fircroft College, its mission of 'social justice' is more relevant than ever. Fircroft is a thriving and ambitious College with a vast and diverse community of learners and a strong ethos.

Fircroft is currently in an exciting phase of improvement and development, we are now in a position to appoint an Assistant Cook (Evening Shift) to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to provide an efficient and effective support in the kitchen to the Head Cook.

To be considered for this role you must have experience of the preparation and cooking of main meals and hold a Basic Food Hygiene certificate. You'll also ideally hold a NVQ or equivalent in catering and a First Aid certificate (or be willing to undertake training to attain the certificate). We're looking for someone who has good communication skills, who works well as part of a team.

The right person will be someone who enjoys working at a fast pace with a variety of different tasks, who is self-managed with a strong work ethic, who has a positive outlook and a 'can do' attitude and is a completer / finisher.
