About the Role
Does the opportunity to drive insight from the analysis and manipulation of high volume data interest you?
Do you want to help drive change for children and families?
Can you be the person to lead a team developing policies within your specialism?
"Mo is a young person who has been identified as someone who is on the cusp of the poverty line. This had been highlighted by their school to social services. Working with other partners, it is understood that Mo's household income falls below the national average. There is a direct correlation between household income and employability in areas of Surrey."
This scenario is an example of the type of data you might investigate to identify specific trends, enabling you to develop analyses and interactive reporting tools that allow us to explore the link between poverty and the outcomes for family intervention.
Surrey County Council has an opportunity to grow the Insight & Innovation teams, supporting the service to meet such challenges head-on. Working smarter within a team of talented individuals, you will be focused on making continuous improvements to the service.
These teams consist of three areas working closely together;
- Performance Improvement
- The Analytics Hub
- Commissioning & Design Management
For more information on these teams, please see document attached.
The Analytics team plays a unique role within the Children, Schools and Families directorate, using a combination of quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods to analyse data and trends. The team ensure decision making is supported by the best possible evidence provided.
Using your specialist expertise within analysis, statistics & reporting you will identify issues, trends and opportunities that will have an impact on the different services and partnerships involved. Liaising at all level, both internally and externally, you will establish service requirements and priorities.
Types of projects you will gain exposure to will include but not be limited to; identifying areas with a particular risk of anti-social behaviour by young people; using historic data to project likely rates of exclusion for children across the county.
You will gain continued support to develop your technical skills, enabling you to fast-track your career within the public sector. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable training in commissioning and project management whilst attending conferences and workshops to broaden your understanding of your analytical field.
