The MSL should build collaborative relationships with opinion leaders, and facilitate the exchange of unbiased scientific information between the medical community and the company. There should be active involvement in the arrangement and organisation of non-promotional proactive activities initiated by the company (eg. advisory boards or educational meetings).

A field-based medical and scientific expert for the therapy area. The role is entirely non-promotional. The main focus is peer-to-peer scientific exchange. This can be through both Reactive responses to unsolicited requests for information from healthcare professionals and appropriate non-promotional proactive activities.

Essential Functions
  • To deliver high quality medical information to both internal and external customers on request and in a timely manner.
  • To build and maintain good relationships with opinion leaders in the therapeutic area across the UK and Ireland, leading to a productive two-way exchange of scientific information and opinion.
  • To help position the Jazz Pharmaceuticals product portfolio within relevant national and local protocols, guidelines and formularies in order to ensure appropriate access to the right patients.
  • To attend relevant conferences, congresses and meetings, conduct round table discussions and/or advisory boards and collate competitor activity, as well as providing context on scientific data being presented.
  • To help devise and develop local study programmes, national projects and market access programmes to improve and advance knowledge and, where relevant, usage of the Jazz Pharmaceuticals product portfolio.
  • To ensure, at all times, high standards with regards to pharmacovigilance, compliance and working within the scope of all relevant SOPs.
  • To ensure adverse events, product complaints and medical information enquiries are handled appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • To provide scientific and technical support to other colleagues within Jazz Pharmaceuticals as required.
  • To liaise closely with the office based medical team as well as other cross functional teams within Jazz Pharmaceuticals (sales and marketing), ensuring good communication and collaboration at all times.
  • To maintain an up to date and high level knowledge of Jazz Pharmaceutical products and the therapy area, and to keep up to date with internal training and SOP requirements.
Typical Outputs
  • UK/Ireland KOL list/map
  • Top KOL Medical Engagement Plan.
  • Monthly report covering performance (time spent on different activities), key insights, key issues, key projects and activities.
  • Daily customer contact tracked through the provided KOL contact tracker. Contacts should be through one to one, group meetings, congress, telephone and/or email.
  • Reports generated following specific activities, such as advisory boards, round tables, conference attendance etc.
Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
Essential:
  • Science degree with higher qualifications (MSc/PhD), Pharmacist (PharmD) or Medical (MD) qualification or equivalent, OR significant relevant therapy area experience (clinical, scientific or academic).
  • Desirable:
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry, either in medical affairs or in a commercial role.
