About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Architect (12 Month FTC) to join the IT department within Head Office, Bournemouth.
As the Data Architect, you will be responsible for the analysis, design and implementation of the organisation's data architecture, covering all core systems and a new central data warehouse.

Some of the key responsibilities within this role include:

  • Create the principles for data management across all core systems, defines the standards for all data that is entered and held within these systems and creates the framework within which all data resides.
  • Define a Master Data Management approach to ensure data is consistent, reliable, editable and searchable and maintains integrity at all times.
  • Ability to clearly define and document the data flows throughout the systems and how this impacts on business activity.
  • Analyse existing data structures, management storage and utilisation across the business and offer solutions.
  • Create a blueprint for an enterprise level data and information architecture, which includes the ability and flexibility to integrate all data types into the data architecture including internal and external, structured and unstructured data.
  • Defining the implementation approach for ensuring the data management principles are adopted across all core systems and solutions, including data cleansing, transformation and storage etc.
  • Defining the principles of data standards and policies including ownership and maintenance and supports the implementation of this within the business.

About you
Due to the variable and demanding technical complexity of the job, a university education resulting in an appropriate computer/information science degree required for this position.

To be successful within this role you will have (list not exhaustive):

  • Excellent data analysis and data modelling skills
  • Excellent understanding of data migration technologies/tools
  • Strong technical knowledge of databases and database technologies.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of data and Business Intelligence (BI) domains.
  • Experience of Master Data Management solutions
  • Experience of designing data architecture and structures to suit business and technology complexity and needs.
  • Experience of Data Governance best practices and policies.

In addition, you will possess strong communication skills. Using these skills, you will get users to engage and articulate their requirements, making sure we get to the correct solution the first time. You will have strong experience of requirements analysis, modelling and producing fit for purpose designs, visualisations and specifications. In addition, you will have strong problem-solving skills. Looking at an issue that needs to be solved and come up with solutions quickly.
