The Role

Working as part of the Almac Discovery, Biology team based in Belfast, you will be responsible for target validation and hit finding activities, the establishment and application of a wide range of techniques and novel assays for the characterisation and optimisation of new anti-cancer agents. You will also be involved in mechanism of action studies, the interpretation and presentation of key data and have the opportunity to propose and initiate new activities to streamline discovery activities.

Please note that we will be recruiting at either the Scientist or Senior Scientist role. Candidates will be assessed against the level of the role that is demonstrated on CVs and we would encourage you to fully demonstrate how you meet the criteria required. Essential Criteria

  • PhD in cancer biology, biochemistry, molecular / cellular biology or another relevant life science discipline.Or BSc / Master degree and significant experience in drug discovery in the bio-pharma industry.
  • Previous experience working in the pharmaceutical or biotech. Industry or similar academic setting (ideally from hit ID to candidate selection).
  • Experimental knowledge and hands-on experience in biochemical assays and/or cell biology to support in vitro pharmacology for cancer biology dissection and validation.

Desirable Criteria

(The following criteria may be applied if a large pool of applicants exist)

  • Postdoctoral experience in cancer biology, biochemistry, molecular / cellular biology or another relevant discipline.
  • Prior experience in complex cellular assays (3D, co-culturing), microscopy/cell imaging (InCell), and/or biophysical techniques incl. SPR / NMR / MS would also be considered advantageous.
