An excellent opportunity for a PhD educated life scientist to move into scientific sales! A background in Immunology/Western Blotting/Flow Cytometry/ELISA/Molecular/Immunohistochemistry/Biochemistry and related techniques would be preferred for this role.

Full product and sales training is provided but drive and motivation to move into technical sales is essential. This role is around 60-80% field-based, travelling to different customer sites around 3-4 days per week, with the rest of your time working from a home office.

TERRITORY: Scotland and North-East England
PRODUCTS: Antibodies, Cell Culture products and Flow Cytometry kits
CLIENTS: Academic, Research, Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical companies

Visiting Customers:
Responsible for visiting customers at least 3 days per week to sell biological reagents to the Life Science Industry, for the following purposes:
to build the customer database in the defined territory
to handle commercial issues arising e.g. negotiations, tenders, etc. in conjunction with management
to provide technical advice to customers where necessary
obtain referrals and prospect for new business within existing accounts and in new accounts.

Sales Strategy:
Plan and implement sales strategy to achieve sales budget.
Plan and effectively manage key accounts.
Represent the company and maintain a professional manner at scientific exhibitions
Provide feedback on the sales area, successes and difficulties of implementing your sales strategy, competition and the state of the market

Customer Service:
Maintain a regular and high level of contact with customers via telephone to build on the relationships established by visits
ensure customer database is regularly updated and all relevant information is logged and downloaded within the required timescale.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Degree in a Life Science discipline and laboratory experience.
If new to sales, a PhD and research experience in research reagents is essential. If with scientific sales experience, a life science Bachelors or Masters degree plus sales experience will be suitable.
Self-motivated, enthusiastic and an excellent communicator
Requires ability to travel frequently, attending internal meetings, visiting customer locations etc.
Must have willingness and proven ability to work autonomously
