An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Maintenance Engineer to join RPC bpi recycled products based in Heanor. 

RPC bpi recycled products is the largest polythene film recycler in Europe, with the scope and expertise to recycle up to 70,000 tonnes of plastic waste each year.  As a leading reprocessor our wide capabilities include LDPE recycling and HDPE recycling – specifically we recycle plastics and polythene from industrial waste, packaging waste and agricultural waste sources.  The site employees around 45 people.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role of the Apprentice Maintenance Engineer is to train to support the Engineering Team with the electrical and mechanical planned preventative maintenance (PPM) work for the extrusion and conversion machines and minor site tasks within the Refuse manufacturing site to aid in the productive and efficient running of the Refuse factory.  To also train to support the Engineering Team within the Reclaim factory.

This role is an exciting platform for the right person to grow and develop within a business having an overview of the whole site.

The role will be supported with an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering with further opportunities for development for the right candidate.

An ideal Apprentice Maintenance Engineer will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • A-C required in GCSE in English, Mathematics and a Science
  • A team player and a good communicator
  • Flexible and “Hands On” approach working with minimum supervision and dealing with multiple demands
  • Attention to detail, organised and methodical
  • Good Timekeeping
  • Positive Attitude
  • Willingness to learn and attend relevant training courses
  • Approachable
  • Would enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together
  • Flexible

The person will be professional and be able to demonstrate confidence, they should be self-motivated, with a positive and proactive approach, take pride in their work, demonstrating good attention to detail. The person will be able to communicate with all different levels of people, from operators on the shop floor to Directors and Managers within a manufacturing environment.  The person will be a good team player, willing to help colleagues and show flexibility.  The person will be comfortable in a factory environment.
