Essex County Council

Director, Safeguarding & Quality Assurance (Adult)

Essex

By 2020, we aim to be both self-funded and self-sufficient. It's a significant change and a huge challenge. A challenge that we need to think about both radically and imaginatively. A challenge that will require us to be committed, creative, innovative and collaborative if we are to retain the integrity of the county. The council of 2021 will be very different to the council of 2017. Simple and streamlined but able to take risks and become increasingly entrepreneurial. Sustained and relentless, pushing at the boundaries of what's possible. A place where individuals, partners and communities feel proud to play their role and genuinely want to belong. We don't just want to make Essex County Council the best it can be, but make Essex the best it can be. To do that we need commercially-minded visionaries. Leaders who are excited by these challenges and inspired by our vision. Leaders with the ambition and drive to do everything they can to bring about this change, together.

About the opportunity

In this role as Director, Safeguarding & Quality Assurance (Adults), you'll have a relentless commitment to the protection and safeguarding of adults. An influential role model, you'll create a culture that ensures a person-centred, risk-appropriate approach to safeguarding across the entire system. Make no mistake, this role is much more than ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. You'll drive wider quality assurances and best practice initiatives both internally and externally, ensuring a strengths based approach permeates decision making at all levels and that a culture of reflective learning and improvement is developed and embedded. This complex and demanding role is an exciting opportunity to bring about positive changes for the council and its residents.

About you

A true collaborative leader, you're able to build an energised team with an atmosphere of trust, respect and dignity that allows new and innovative ways of working. You're an ambitious professional and HCPC registered Social Worker with expert knowledge of your field. You'll also be able to show us where you've developed solutions to deliver value for money services and demonstrate that you have a clear understanding of the financial responsibilities of projects. Your exceptional communication skills ensure you're capable of building strong relationships both internally and externally. Everything you do will be about making a difference as you create exciting possibilities for the future.
