Join one of the biggest and most respected national online eCommerce successes in our industry. Construction Materials Online is an online supplier of building materials, sold across three specialist eCommerce stores. As the company is expanding, we are seeking a self-motivated, organised and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our growing team based at our head office in Plymouth.

The position of the Purchasing Manager is responsible for securing the best quality products at the most competitive prices through effective negotiation.

They will increase profit generated and deliver cost reduction initiatives, delivering sustainable gross margin improvements through negotiation and resourcing of products. They will negotiate and agree contracts, optimising terms with suppliers that are beneficial for both parties whilst monitoring the quality of service provided. They will be responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing our purchasing strategy.

They will forecast levels of demand for services and products and deliver presentations regarding market analysis and possible growth. They will produce statistical reports and manage the stock profile. They will constantly look for continuous improvement opportunities in line with supply chain best practice, focusing heavily on improving customer satisfaction and ensure ethical compliance by monitoring supplier involvement in the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

The successful candidate will be CIPS certified (or working towards) and have demonstrable experience as a Senior Buyer and proven experience of negotiations with large suppliers. They will have an established track record in delivering and improving margin requirements and have project management experience. They will be analytically focused and proficient with computerised systems, a high degree of IT literacy and competent user of Microsoft Office. They will also need to have a strong commercial awareness of ecommerce. The ability to absorb new information quickly is essential as well as being organised with the ability to prioritise and effectively complete multiple tasks.
