A Yorkshire based business, due to ambitious growth plans is recruiting for an Operations Manager to work from their Doncaster site.
You will manage and coordinate all sales, engineering, quality, warehousing, H&S, distribution and environmental functions on site..
Preferably a Graduate in Engineering (manufacturing, electrical or mechanical) or business-related discipline or experience at an equivalent level, you will have a proven track record of delivering in a manufacturing management role. You will be self-motivated, results-driven person with a professional manner.
You will have the experience, gravitas and intellectual capacity to bring clear strategic thinking to key operational, IT related and innovation/change decisions. You will possess strong leadership skills and have excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to influence senior executives, customers and staff at the office and shop-floor level.
You will also be required to demonstrate a successful track record of effective people management and leading and delivering significant change in a competitive and complex business environment.
Key duties:
Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for the following:
Developing relationships with new and existing companies in order to secure orders now and for the future
Representing the company in a positive way, ensuring that you live and breathe values surrounding quality of the product and service
Generation of quotes and estimates. Giving costumers realistic expectations of when they can receive their product
Involvement in internal contract review
Inventory forecasting and planning in line with market opportunities
Production scheduling and planning
On Time Delivery to customers
Quality standards and regulatory compliance
H&S, security and environmental standards
Configuration management and interpretation of client requirements
Development and Capital Expenditure project management
IT project management
KPI setting for Site, Team and Individuals
Creating a Continuous Improvement culture
Staff development, and training
Site, Team and Individual performance management
Creating a positive, supportive work environment
Disciplinary, grievances and Industrial Relations
Essential Criteria:
Third level education in an engineering, manufacturing, food technology or business related degree, or experience at a senior level
Knowledge of production and operations management with proven track record of delivery within a senior role
Experience of leading innovation or significant involvement in product or process innovation team
Good experience in Project Management
Strong knowledge of IT and experience of IT implementation in managing projects
Excellent commercial acumen
Demonstrable experience of good people management and leadership in a work environment
Analytical thinking skills; Comfortable working with data, tolerant of situations of complexity where not all data is available; conversant with statistical processes
Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes
Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence stakeholders
Ability to work in a demanding and challenging environment
Ability to travel regularly to sites and clients in UK and Europe
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in Sage
Good knowledge of financial management and managerial accounting
The standard working week is 39hrs Monday to Friday
