JOB TITLE: Faults Scheduler
REPORTS TO: Lead Field Engineer
FUNCTION: Network Operations - Eastern Region -
LOCATION: KINGS LYNN
SALARY: GBP24,176 - GBP31,863 depending on experience
CLOSING DATE: 18th August 2017
Candidates must be aware this role has variable working hours with start times at 7.00am
Job Purpose:
The role of the Faults Scheduler exists to ensure the safe and effective scheduling of all direct and contractor field resources for all work types
Principal Accountabilities:
Schedule staff effectively in order to keep overtime expenditure to minimum levels.
Liaise with field staff and update Enmac in a timely fashion to ensure our customers are given up to date information regarding their jobs.
Ensure that Electricity Guaranteed Standards are adhered to and correctly recorded.
Safely and effectively schedule staff (direct and contractors).
Update SAP and Enmac in a timely manner.
Raise purchase orders when required in a timely manner.
Ensure that the scheduling systems are updated regularly to ensure there is good visibility of all staff.
Record annual leave and other absence for all field based staff in the Hub.
Liaise with contractors to ensure compliance with section 73 of the Street Works Act.
Manage stand-by rosters on a weekly or daily basis working closely with Field Staff Supervisors to ensure the rosters are robust.
Manage work loads efficiently and to time.
Active participation in Individual Performance Review sessions with your Line Manager.
Attendance at monthly Face 2 Face Briefings.
Management of days lost through sickness.
Management of days lost through accidents.
Management of non-lost time accidents.
Nature and Scope
To safely and effectively schedule staff (direct and contractors) in the Region.
Achieving full utilisation of the resources and updating scheduling tools or any new scheduling systems.
Operate work management tools (SAP) and PC systems to assist with the issuing and completion of work.
Raise and process purchase orders using SAP, including the generation of management reports.
Provide regular feedback to the Field Engineers and Field Staff Supervisors.
Take and resolves telephone queries from internal and external customers.
Liaise with other Directorates as necessary to ensure effective working at the Region.
Support the investigation of customer complaints.
Record and co-ordinate Electricity Guaranteed Standards and Electricity Overall Standards.
Records annual leave and other absence.
Liaise with Field Staff and update Enmac with timely information from site in line with IIP requirements.
Liaise with contactors to ensure compliance with section 73 of the Street Works Act.
To work as a team with other Business Services Administrators, Field Staff Supervisors and Field Engineers to ensure staff are effectively scheduled and fully utilised.
Manage stand-by rosters on a weekly or daily basis working closely with Field Staff Supervisors to ensure rosters are robust.
Be required to carry out a storm role during emergencies.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
A basic understanding of the Network and the various types of jobs undertaken would be an advantage.
Ability to work in a pressured environment as part of a highly focused team.
Good level PC literacy, with the ability to learn and use a variety of systems with fast and accurate keyboard skills.
Team working - The drive and ability to work co-operatively with others to achieve shared goals and optimise the contribution of all members of the team.
Initiative - A bias for action and problem resolution.
Flexible attitude to work and working hours.
Self motivated, with a strong drive to succeed.
Ability to build good working relationships with other staff and other teams within UK Power Networks and external partners.
Updating of Enmac to ensure that up-to-date information is available to customers.
Updating SAP jobs so that the current position is known on all jobs.
Updating scheduling system to ensure that we know where all field staff are.
Authorise holiday in line with the procedure and keep the database up-to-date and accurate
City & Guilds Level 3 2339 (formally 2322) certificate in electrical technology engineering would be an advantage and would qualify for SG2.
Should you not currently possess the full range of essential skills, qualifications and competencies listed above, there may be an opportunity for further training to equip the successful candidate appropriately. If the successful candidate does not possess all relevant competencies for the core grade, it will be appropriate to appoint at a lower grade until they have developed the required competencies.
