Purpose of Job
The Engineer will be responsible to ensure the new system(s) or component(s) are delivered to production
The position will be responsible for the specification, development, validation and implementation of fuel and purge systems in vehicles.
Duties
Coordinate the activities and processes including other departments such as Design, Development, Purchasing, Quality & Commercial / Project management
Monitor and report the status of the new system and highlight issues appropriately
Vehicle fuel and purge system specification
To arrange and supervise component or system testing and verification
Support the company capability development and growth
To act as a focus for programs with vehicle fuel and purge system content
To liaise with clients, suppliers and other internal teams
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
Skills and Experience
Experience of fuel and purge systems and other interacting systems, preferably in a vehicle OEM environment
Setting of attribute targets (Eg. Piece cost, investment cost, weight, performance, package, assembly, legislation etc) and monitoring performance
Cascading of targets into sub-system and component specifications
Knowledge of vehicle, sub-system and component level design, development and validation (CAE & testing)
Manage suppliers using APQP
Knowledge of automotive Product Development Processes (lead DFMEA's, input into PFMEA's, coordinate DVP, coordinate robustness studies etc.) is essential
Define deliverables and supply input for Vehicle Gateways in Vehicle PDP
Knowledge of general engineering & manufacturing fundamentals and problem solving techniques
Knowledge of engine & vehicle assembly & logistics processes
Good commercial experience including supplier management
Good communication skills
Self-motivated and possess the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail
Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints
Flexibility and willingness to travel to customer and supplier sites for both long and short durations
Driving license required
German language skills, advantageous but not essential
Experience working in an engineering consultancy environment advantageous but not essential
