Festival Manager, York Mediale
This is a fixed term role, August 17 to December 18, 4 days per week, or 32 hours - arranged flexibly around the successful candidate.
Context
York Mediale is a new international media arts festival, taking place 27 th September to 6 th October 2018. An ambitious 10-day celebration of cutting-edge media arts, it will hold year-round development activity with the best emerging talent across international networks.
York Mediale will engage over 100,000 people in media arts, providing a platform for innovation and technology to tell York's stories where people least expect. It will develop the artistic practice of 75 artists and inspire and enhance the careers of 200 more.
York Mediale has just formed as a CIC (Community Interest Company) and expects an annual turnover of approximately GBP800,000.
Main Purpose
To lead the development and management of York Mediale as an organisation.
Role
York Mediale needs an exceptional business leader to help run the festival and ensure we deliver our plans.
You will need to be able to communicate the Creative Director's vision for an exciting and diverse media arts festival to a national and international audience, including local residents, stakeholders and potential investors.
Your senior management experience will mean you have a good working knowledge of budget management, stakeholder engagement and/or dealing with third party agencies or contractors. You will ensure our finances are managed efficiently, effectively and meet regulations through the implementation of robust financial procedures and policies.
You will have excellent communication skills, be able to influence others at a senior level, be a confident public speaker and be able to make things happen.

- Demonstrable experience of managing budgets at corporate level
- Ability to contribute to fundraising and partnership building for new company, engaging with stakeholders and funders in the UK and internationally
- An understanding, knowledge of, and interest in media arts
- Knowledge of funding opportunities and ability to develop funding bids
- Able to effectively and deftly manage a team under stress and pressure, managing points of heavy workload, with flexibility, calm resolve, and a people first attitude
