Working for GHPC, a diverse company in the construction industry, this Trainee Construction Health & Safety Advisor role is an entry-level position within our established Health & Safety Team.

On a day-to-day basis, your job will involve:

  • Learning and understanding the role of Health & Safety in the construction industry
  • Learning and understanding the construction process – from how buildings are designed and built to how projects are managed
  • Learning how to identify risks on construction sites, and how to avoid risks in the design of buildings
  • Preparation and co-ordination of Health & Safety documents, including assessing information in drawings, surveys and reports
  • Communication with Clients, Consultants, Contractors and Designers, to manage information required for the compilation of documents
  • Provision of support to Health & Safety Team to assist with general admin tasks
  • Visiting sites to identify and understand potential Health & Safety risks, record information and take photographs
  • Shadowing one of your senior colleagues to site/office meetings with Clients, Designers and Contractors

Key Attributes for the Trainee Construction Health & Safety Advisor

  • Excellent communication skills essential. Ability to converse confidently with people - excellent written & spoken English with a keen eye for detail is absolutely essential for the role
  • Excellent telephone manner & ability to remain calm in all situations
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated individual able to work independently and unsupervised/integrate well as a team member
  • Willingness to learn and ability to apply knowledge in a considered, systemised manner
  • Well-organised individual with the ability to prioritise workload with flexibility to multi-task
  • IT literate and competent, experienced user of all Microsoft Office software - high level of competence expected in both Word & Excel
  • A professional and diplomatic approach to business and Client requirements and the ability to quickly and accurately read situations is essential
  • Smart (business appropriate) appearance, discreet nature, flexible attitude and a general commitment to do what it takes to get the job done
  • A Driving Licence is not required initially, but you must be willing to learn to drive in the near future.

Additional Information

This position is offered on a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent basis, based in our Bracknell Office.

You will receive 25 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays).
