Do you have a voice engineering background and want a new challenge? Do you enjoy learning about new technologies in a challenging, real-world environment? The Global Operations team at Amazon is looking for a senior engineer to support our unified communications infrastructure worldwide. Your peers will be systems and network engineers working to make our telephony and conferencing platforms more capable, scalable, reliable and efficient.

Responsibilities include:
• Supporting multi-vendor voice and video solutions to support Amazon's worldwide growth.
• Monitoring the performance of Amazon's voice, video, conferencing and fax infrastructures to ensure we deliver the highest quality customer experience.
• Driving automation improvements.
• Working directly with vendors and cross-functional teams to support ongoing design and operational excellence efforts.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers.

Our ideal candidate is detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and has a track record of supporting voice technologies while building automation and tools. Exposure to supporting enterprise large scale systems while inventing new ways to bring self-service features to customers. The ability to interact with not only peers but also senior management and customers at a global scale is required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• BA/BS in an engineering or relevant experience.
• Deep industry experience
• Experience managing large-scale enterprise or carrier hosted VoIP and/or video platforms.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, SIP, and RTP
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Expertise in many of the following technologies and protocols: BGP, OSPF, SIP, RTP, IP, TCP (internals and flow control), UDP, DNS, DHCP, T1/E1, Ethernet, firewalls, IT security best practices and videoconferencing
• Experience in Linux systems administration
• Enterprise level expertise in Broadworks platforms using AS, NS, XSP, PS and DMS servers across global sites
• Enterprise level expertise with Audiocodes Mediant 1000 and 2000 systems
• Experience of AWS cloud technologies including EC2, S3, Elastic Search, CloudWatch, RDS and DynamoDB
• Development depth in OOP, Java, UNIX, Perl, C++, XML, Web services, and UNIX tools.
• Proficient use of at least one modern language (e.g. Python, Ruby, Java)
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues
• The ability to think at scale and automate processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in lab-testing & certification of networking/voice devices
• Experience working with carriers to provision, install, and operate both voice and data networks
• Experience managing complex technical projects
• Working knowledge of TDM and telecommunications fundamentals
• Working knowledge of H.323 and related communication protocols
• Experience with process improvements at a large scale across global teams
• Experience of providing technical mentorship within a strong engineering team
