Job Title: Audit Manager - ABL & Specialist Finance

Location: Head Office in Banbury but flexible location in any of the company's Southern Offices for the right candidate

Purpose of the Role:

  • Provide day to day management for a small team of remotely based Client Auditors who conduct new business surveys and audits of existing clients for Corporate Invoice Finance and Asset Based Lending (ABL) facilities (Trade, Stock, Leasing, & FX) and a UK & Europe Auditor that splits their time between the two regions on a shared resource basis. When completing surveys and audits the team mostly work alone at a business premises.
  • Work with the Audit & Risk Administrator to ensure that survey and audit booking processes and activity monitoring is robust and fit for purpose. Provide assistance to ensure that audit activity is allocated appropriately.
  • Owns and administers a process for formally accrediting Auditors to undertake surveys and audits for larger facilities and ABL products.
  • Undertake, direct, and/or lead survey and audit teams to complete high quality audits and surveys for invoice finance and ABL products.
  • The split between managing the team and undertaking surveys or audits is expected to be around 20/80

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, lead, direct, train, coach and develop their team to achieve both business and personal objectives.
  • Vet survey requests for larger corporate deals to ensure that appropriate resource is allocated, reporting submission dates agreed and requirements are properly scoped by engaging with Sanctioners to confirm specific requirements.
  • Where required produce bespoke reporting templates and audit testing regimes.
  • Oversee the Audit diary to ensure that appropriate time is allocated to jobs so that service level agreements can be met, that any downtime is used effectively and that the ABL & Specialist Client Auditors are highly productive. Ensure that survey activity is prioritised as an activity for BSF Client Auditors.
  • Undertake objective sampling activities, this is to include feedback from internal and external clients, and joint visits to measure the quality and professionalism of ABL & Specialist Client Auditors.
  • Individual ABL & Specialist Client Auditor performance is discussed monthly and subject to a formal meeting once a quarter to feed into the half year and end of year performance reviews.
  • Continuously develop the survey and audit programme to meet stakeholder needs and increase efficiency. This includes the maintenance and evolution of the survey and audit templates and the best use of technology generally.
  • Produce high quality, timely and concise audit/survey reports clearly identifying all material risk issues, commenting of the suitability of the client/prospect for the facilities in place/proposed, and suggesting ways to mitigate or manage the risks where identified and to validate or challenge the proposed exit strategy. The report should be correctly formatted and proof checked for accuracy prior to submission.

Requirements for the Role:

  • Risk Awareness (understanding of BFS risk framework, sanction requirements and general business risks).
  • HR/Team Management (experience in managing a team to complete daily tasks, undertake performance management, maintain and follow HR procedures, and be responsible for own and teams actions).

  • Financial Analysis (ability to interpret profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow information).

  • Planning & Organisational (use available resources and time to deliver targeted results).

Educational/Qualifications:

  • Full driving license
  • ABFA Certificate Level.
  • Understanding of Sage and other accounts software systems.
