Accountant-Financial Accountant - ACCA - CIMA

Qualified Financial Accountant is required to join a well established Software and Services organisation based in Chelmsford. The primary responsibilities will include managing a small team, preparing the monthly management accounts along with producing yearly statutory accounts.

Challenging opportunity with base salary of up to GBP55K + benefits.

The Responsibilities of the Financial Accountant will include but not be limited to:

  • Production of accurate and timely monthly management accounts across divisions

  • Analysis of major variances to rolling forecast and original budget

  • Weekly updates to management account forecasts

  • Management of bank accounts and weekly cashflow forecasting

  • Managing the day to day activities of a small effective finance team

  • Preparation of Annual Financial Statements

  • Working with and assisting the external auditors at year end

  • Running of monthly payroll for all divisions

  • Payment of monthly PAYE/NI payments

  • Ensuring that sales invoices are raised in a timely manner

  • Chasing any debtors for overdue debt

  • Payment of suppliers in an accurate and timely manner

  • Submitting quarterly vat returns

  • Preparing annual corporation tax returns for all entities

  • Fixed asset management across the group

  • Preparing and agreeing monthly commission statements for all sales people

  • Working with the Group FD to improve processes, reporting and systems

  • Assisting in the annual budget production

KPIs

  • Management accounts produced in a timely manner

  • Monthly payroll runs smoothly

  • Year end audit adjustments are minimal

Requirements for the Financial Accountant position

  • A qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with 5 years+ experience

  • Ability to work in a team and individually

  • Previous responsibility for staff management

  • Excellent MS Excel skills, MS Word and PowerPoint

  • Pragmatic and problem solving approach whilst always maintaining the greater picture

  • Knowledge of Access accounts would be advantageous

  • Experience of working in an owner managed business would be desirable

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
