Located in the charming village of Kirtlington in rural Oxfordshire, our hotel and restaurant has been the centre of village life for centuries. After years of neglect when closed by a local brewery, we were purchased by a family in 2003 who then spent 2 years converting the former pub into an award-winning restaurant and hotel with a strong ethos around quality food, local produce and value.
We are currently seeking an experienced Head Chef to oversee the smooth operation of our kitchen. With a strong emphasis on using only the freshest, locally sourced produce available and ensuring that every dish is of the highest quality. You will be responsible for managing & developing the kitchen team, creating menus and controlling the costs in the department.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Operations in the kitchen department including food costs, ordering, hygiene and health & safety
- Developing creative menus including our a la carte and daily specials
- Ensure that all menu dishes are prepared with attention to detail & to the highest standard
- Liaising & sourcing local suppliers for all food purchases
- Achieving & maintaining GP margins
- Motivate the team, share knowledge, training & developing the chefs within your team
- Administration work
- Maintaining the hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience of working in similar or quality restaurant
- Ability to create menus that are both imaginative & profitable
- Excellent Management Skills
- A responsible, enthusiastic, creative and motivated professional
- Minimum 2 years??? experience within a similar role
- An excellent communicator and a hands-on manager
- Excellent attention to detail
We are offering a salary of ??35,000 per annum plus bonus to the successful applicant!
