The Hinkley Point C Project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. During the business construction phase over 5,600 people will work on the site. The project marks the rebirth of the UK's nuclear industry and will present invaluable opportunities for Somerset, the South West and wider UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the largest and most significant construction and infrastructure projects in Europe.
An experienced Construction Superintendent (Electrical) is needed to join the team. You will be undertaking surveillance on electrical systems and networks including 11kV and general small power installations. Ideally you will have a good number of years' practical experience on installation of electrical networks, 11kV switchgear and cabling, substations, 400V cabling installations, general small lighting and power fit out etc. along with management of their installation and overview of installation standards, testing, commissioning and sign off.
The Construction Superintendent will require that his / her team;
* Check the Works are constructed in accordance with the contract and notifying the NEC Supervisor of non-conformance request requirements
*Submit details to the NEC Supervisor so that non-conformance reports can be issued
*Proactively communicate with other site teams, maintain good communication links, and ensure surveillance is reported
*Contribute surveillance information to support KPI indicators
*Support team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate and keep works safe and within Quality standards. Follow up by taking appropriate and proportionate action (e.g. issue communications, call meetings) to prevent the halt of works
*Ensure tasks are developed to quality in accordance with the company's requirement for health, safety and environment
*Develop and maintain an understanding of the construction activities and their adherence to quality
*Review Contractor performance against the authorised Quality Control Plan
*Ability to make autonomous decisions and operate with minimal supervision

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
You will have good working knowledge of the NEC ECC and FIDIC contracts and possess management skills and have solid experience in the role on a variety of Major Projects.
*Excellent organisation, delegation and communication skills
*Ability to work within a high performing team that continuously outperforms expectations and objectives
*A minimum of HND in Electrical Engineering qualification, or equivalent vocational training and evidenced extensive experience in the electrical design and construction field with demonstration of standards compliance application, with a minimum of 10 years' experience in the industry at a senior level (e.g. manager, senior supervisor)
*Experience in the installation and erection of Electrical plant, equipment and distribution including 11kV switchgear and feeder/distribution cabling/earthing, ducting networks, ring main and transformer units, 400V switchgear and distribution, general electrical installations fit out (e.g. lighting, small power, ventilation, equipment supplies)
*Ability to apply knowledge of installation standards, contract requirements and specification needs to surveillance of installed networks of distribution, effectively and consistently to demonstrate compliance or identify non-compliant scope
*Previous working experience in the delivery of large complex projects including extensive electrical distribution networks
*Experience and working knowledge of requirements and obligations under CDM 2015 Regulations
*Proven experience of maintaining records which are accurate, concise and with relevance to the particular form of contract
*Proven experience of document and drawing approvals processes and procedures
*Strong communication skills in English required, and knowledge of French can be an advantage
*Experience in the use of electronic hand held devices to capture information preferred
*Ability to develop Field Engineers to achieve a broad range of competence and promote Field Engineers in progression to Construction Superintendent
You will be required to attend and pass the HPC Clerk of Works course as part of our upskilling training programme.
Rate GBP350 to GBP480 per day PAYE (+ 33 days paid leave). Closing date 14/09/17
