A new role in a new team at Plymouth City Council with a remit to identify and launch Commercial Enterprises which can bring in sustainable surplus generating revenue to help support the overall objectives of the Council. The Commercial Enterprise team takes an unapologetically entrepreneurial, commercial approach but ensures real social purpose is behind it.
If you'd like to work across a range of businesses as varied as catering and waste collection, garage services and holiday cottages, all operating commercially to make a profit but with all the profit reinvested for the benefit of Plymouth, then this could be the role for you.
Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Enterprise, the primary purpose of this role is working across the organisation to plan and lead the analysis activities within specific Commercial Enterprise projects whilst ensuring that the analysis deliverables are of a consistently high standard.
You must be confident in researching and writing commercially-minded business plans for new Commercial Enterprises and in employing techniques to analyse commercial ventures such as Market Analysis, Competitor Analysis, Financial Analysis (NPV, Payback, DCF), Trend Analysis and Environmental Analysis (PEST).
Ideally you'll have experience of both private and public sectors. You'll be comfortable influencing and negotiating across all levels, both within our organisation and with outside stakeholders. You'll need to have an ability to work independently and to take ownership of projects from inception to completion.
Most importantly you'll have an entrepreneurial spirit with an enthusiasm for developing and growing successful commercial businesses.

The salary band for this role is GBP31,601 to GBP35,444 and also includes enrolment to the generous local government pension scheme.
