Product Development Engineer - Cathedral Appointments are currently looking for a Product Development Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business based just outside of Tiverton.
Key Responsibilities of a Product Development Engineer:
- Working with R&D engineers and cutting edge machinery to progress concepts and prototypes to full manufacture.
- Development, verification and qualification of electronic designs in accordance with relevant standards through external certification and testing where appropriate.
- Assisting with mechanical and software aspects of product development, including testing.
- Design and fabrication of test equipment for product development, testing and manufacture.
- Design for manufacture including Production Process Failure Mode and Effects analysis.
- Investigating field and production issues, implementing any necessary changes.
- Supporting product development lifecycle gate reviews.
- Maintain a "state of the art" knowledge of new technologies that apply to our client's products through research and training.
- Involvement in developing and continuously improving our client's Quality Management System product development lifecycle processes and procedures.
- Continuous improvement of existing products.
Key Requirements of a Product Development Engineer:
- Qualified to a degree level in electronic engineering or closely-related discipline.
- Robust PCB layout and schematic capture skills, with experience in CAD simulation packages.
- Experienced in component selection, justifying circuit design by analysis and reliability testing.
- Overall product design and design for manufacturability experience.
- Excellent communication, report writing and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced engineering environment.
- High voltage electronic design desirable.
- Lean manufacture, including 5S and Six Sigma desirable.
The role of Product Development Design Engineer is a challenging and rewarding role offering strong personal career development.
