Job Description

PURPOSE:

You will be guiding IT Apprentices on Standards/Frameworks to plan their activities, develop their skills in the workplace and at training sessions, and support them to complete their qualifications through a mix of teaching, assessing, coaching, workplace visits and liaison activities.

We are looking for candidates with a passion for teaching, coaching and assessing people of all ages to complete apprenticeship qualifications and develop their skills in a variety of dynamic digital roles. The AA role includes the following responsibilities:

  1. Delivering effective learning in class-based and online study weeks/days and ensuring that apprentices achieve their maximum potential throughout the training programme.
  2. Mentoring the apprentices to complete the Summative Portfolio and End Point Assessment by ensuring the apprentices have in depth understanding of Level 3 & Level 4 Standards/Frameworks, according to the assessment guidelines, and that timely feedback is consistently provided.
  3. Liaising and communicating with Apprentice and employers/line managers to ensure they are fully aware of apprentice's progress and aware how to support them to meet key milestones.
  4. Ensuring learning activity is recorded and auditable in line with government funding regulations and uploaded onto the e-portfolio platform.

CONTEXT:

This role is based in London and the surrounding areas, requiring regular attendance at employers' premises where apprentices are based, the Arch London office and occasionally other Arch offices.

Reporting to the area Delivery Manager, the role has a close relationship with all staff based in London, in addition a working relationship with all other employees and line managers. The role will also build good relationships with our external clients where apprentices are employed.

KEY OUTPUTS:

?? Preparing and delivering structured lessons to apprentices.

?? Providing appropriate feedback and maintaining records of apprentices' progress and development

?? Maintaining up to date subject knowledge on ICT disciplines.

?? Undergoing regular observations of teaching and learning as part of continuing professional development (CPD).

?? Take a proactive approach to achievement in all classes of the training centre.

?? Complete on-the-job assessment for allocated apprentices.

?? Compliance with Code of Practice and Awarding Body and Arch Assessment Guidelines.

?? Provide apprentices with timely feedback following assessment of their work.

?? Maintain excellent communication links and relationships with host employers.

?? Investigate and escalate, where appropriate, any cases of plagiarism or apprentice wrong doing in regards to the assessed assignments.

RELATIONSHIPS:

?? Internal - Head of Quality and Compliance, Senior Management team, Delivery Manager, all other employees

?? External - Apprentices' Managers, Apprentices

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:

?? The role holder will be expected to work with a great deal of autonomy, within constraints such as are determined by the Head of Quality and Compliance

?? Determining completion of Apprenticeship

?? Input in regard to the standardisation and interpretation of the assessment criteria governed by external awarding body requirements during standardisation meetings

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

?? Timely submission of work

?? Teaching and learning observations grades

?? Apprentice survey feedback

?? Attend required meetings

?? Attend required external training

?? Apprentices complete within achievement target

?? Keeping up to date with CPD

?? To ensure apprentice guidance in evidence gathering is to the agreed assessment guidelines and quality assurance standards

?? Ensure the learners achieved marks and final grades are accurately and correctly recorded.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Formal Education Standard:

Essential:

• Relevant sector skill knowledge of the workplace and subjects (IT, Web and Telecoms)

• Formal teaching qualification. PTLLS or higher

• Generic workplace skills knowledge and understanding such as written skills, teamwork, interpersonal, communication and employability etc.

• Previous experience of delivering apprenticeship qualifications

• Excellent organisational and administrative skills

Desirable:

• Knowledge of the Level 3 Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles

• Knowledge of the Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals

• Knowledge of Web design, HTML, CSS

• Vocational workplace relevant assessor qualification (D31/32/33, A1, CAVA, TAQA etc.)

• Experience assessing and coaching

• Experience liaising and working with sector employers

• Knowledge of sector skills, awarding and funding body regulations

Professional Qualifications:

Essential:

  • CompTIA A+ (or equivalent)
  • CompTIA Network+ (or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • CompTIA Server+ (or equivalent)
  • CompTIA Cloud Essentials (or equivalent)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) - any technology

Other:

  • CCNA
  • ITIL
  • MOS Expert
