Public Services Ombudsman for Wales – Pencoed, Bridgend

About Us

The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales is independent of all government bodies and has legal powers to look into complaints about public services and independent care providers in Wales.  The service provided is impartial and free of charge.

About the role

The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales is looking to appoint a Finance Officer to undertake financial accounting functions.  Duties will include: day to day management of the sage accounting system, reconciliations, BACS payments, journals, prepayments and accruals, period-end accounting processes, maintenance of asset register along with any ad hoc financial and accounting tasks as required.  This is an excellent opportunity for development as a finance professional as part of a small team working at modern offices at Pencoed.

About you

Ideally will have, or be studying towards, a formal accounting qualification such as AAT, but qualification by experience is also acceptable. You will have good numeracy and problem solving ability with a full understanding of double entry principles.  You must be a team player but with the ability to think strategically and act on own initiative. You must be able to organise and prioritise your workload, working flexibly as required. With sound data processing skills you will have experience of using computerised accounts systems and Microsoft excel.
