PCS is in the process of merging its Legal and Personal Case Unit and Membership department, to form a Members Support Centre based over two sites; London and Birmingham. The Centre will be the main point of contact for PCS members and representatives seeking advice and guidance. PCS is now looking to recruit effective and enthusiastic people with experience of working in a busy administrative function in the Members Support Centre based in Birmingham.

Responsible for the progressive management of the high level workflow through the department, you will ensure the day-to-day smooth running of administrative and process systems.

You will be expected to fully utilise the appraisal and development review process, together with a wide range of people management skills to facilitate a high standard of work delivery across the department, a high standard of service to members and to ensure the ongoing personal development of the staff team. There will be a requirement to manage projects and effectively prioritise workloads, ensuring changing priorities are responded to accordingly and routine volume work is progressed. In conjunction with the line manager, you will be responsible for the continuous improvement and development of work in this key area of PCS work. You may be required to attend the London office on occasion.

Applicants for this post will have the ability to work independently, use their initiative, have excellent interpersonal skills and an understanding of, and commitment to, trade unions. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as is a good standard of IT skills and accuracy.
