This is a great opportunity for a skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer to work alongside other infrastructure specialists, both in support and project delivery, with the opportunity to make technical and process recommendations to the Senior Management Team. In this hands-on role you'll be working with a variety of technologies including VMWare, Cisco networking, Avaya VoIP, Windows server, cloud technologies and many more. As Senior Systems Engineer you will be a key member of RM's Group IT function which supplies services to all businesses within the RM Group - a leading provider education resources, IT software and IT services to the education sector. You'll be maintaining the infrastructure to support around 1500 staff across 6 UK sites and our offices in India with team members based both in the UK and India. You will liaise with internal customers and colleagues in both the UK and India to provide technical best practice and ensure RM standards are upheld, as well as working with external suppliers for technical support, escalation and contract renewal. As Senior Systems Engineer you'll play a critical role in supporting and maintaining the infrastructure provided as part of our hosted environment running critical customer facing solutions. The role also covers maintenance and support of the core infrastructure used to run RM's business systems both on premise and in the cloud. This infrastructure includes multiple VMWare clusters, cisco networking, web farms, load balancers, an Avaya telephone system, MS Azure platforms, the servers for the company's ERP systems and eCommerce sites, Active Directory, the network, SANs and 2 on-site data centres. Key responsibilities Pro-actively maintain and improve the technical infrastructure environment, to improve its resilience, level of security and on-going efficiency to maintain. Enforce group standards and processes across all working areas within IS, both as part of best practice and in support of our ISO accreditation. Act as subject matter expert and provide mentoring to junior members of the team Provide reactive support to our internal customers Take an active stakeholder role in the delivery of infrastructure projects to ensure a smooth transition into Operations. Take part in the out-of-hours support rota.
