Data Centre Operations Engineer (Engineer, Operations, IT, Data)
Salary: depends on experience GBP20k-GBP23k (plus additional GBP4k from on call allowance).
Location: Northampton Datacentre

As a result of our continued year on year growth we need to expand our engineering team, and are therefore looking to recruit a Data Centre Operations Engineer (Engineer, Operations, IT, Data).
The successful candidate will be required to provide and promote a professional, high quality, customer focused service to our customers, ensuring industry-leading levels of customer satisfaction.
Based in our Data Centre in Northampton, you will be responsible for the day to day operations
Key responsibilities of the Data Centre Operations Engineer (Engineer, Operations, IT, Data):
-Installation of racks and associated infrastructure to house Node4 and customer equipment.
-Be aware of, and adhere to, any Method Statements, or Statement of Works required to complete the installation.
-Installation of IT and Communications equipment and any associated connectivity between equipment, including cabling, and connection to power supplies.
-Configuration of IT and communications equipment to pre-defined instructions.
-Post installation testing of equipment, liaising with colleagues to troubleshoot and resolve problems as required.
-Complete/update any documentation required to complete the installation and hand-over to the customer.
-Remote hands requests for customers
-Day to day data centre operations such as tape changes, visitor management, infrastructure checks etc.
Key Skills of the Data Centre Operations Engineer (Engineer, Operations, IT, Data):
In order to carry out the role effectively it is important to demonstrate, have and maintain the following:
-excellent problem solving skills
-understand the importance of, and delivering, great customer service
-excellent communication skills (face to face, verbal and written)
-high attention to detail
-ability to work pro-actively and to tight deadlines
-be a team player
-full driving licence
-be able to travel widely, sometimes this will require overnight stays
-a background / qualification in electrical or mechanical infrastructure would be advantageous
-experience of working in a data centre environment or similar
PERFORMANCE:
Successful Performance will be measured against a set of Key Performance Indicators. These KPI's will be agreed with the employee but are expected to cover:
-Feedback received as part of customer satisfaction surveys
-The quality of installations completed
-The quality and accuracy of completed documentation
-Timeliness of installations
