The successful candidate will be responsible for all engineering aspects associated with the on-time, on-budget delivery of projects with typical value between GBP3-GBP10M. Typical projects would be to define, supply and install airfield systems including: Radars. Navigational Aids. e.g DVOR / ILS Systems. Airfield Ground Lighting systems. Network Design ATC Tower Systems. Radio and Voice Communications Control systems. Power Distribution systems Meteorological systems. The candidate would need to work in a fast moving project environment and have good multi-tasking skills. To a large extent, the role requires the candidate to work independently, and as such the person needs to be very adaptable, quick learning and willing to take on new skills. A thorough knowledge of airfield systems and a good understanding of the airport environment is essential. Key Responsibilities and Tasks: Analyse and clarify customer requirements. Produce system requirements and system design documentation required by the project. Allocation of requirements to sub-systems to allow flow down to suppliers/sub-contractors. Assess and propose engineering solutions in order to meet the technical needs of the project. Co-ordinate all engineering activities to accomplish the objectives of the project. Working closely with the Project Manager and Project Design Authority to ensure that activities are scheduled in accordance with project schedule needs. Support the Project Manager and Project Design Authority in managing and co-ordinating sub-contractors. Provide technical support associated with the supply, installation, test and handover phases of the project. Extended periods of travel may be necessary, especially to support site acceptance activities. Support bids. Support the preparation of management plans. Manage key technical issues and their mitigation plans. Skills, Experience and Qualifications needed: Airport systems domain knowledge in some of the following systems: Radars. Navigational Aids. Airfield Ground Lighting systems. Network Design AC / DC Power System Design. ATC Tower Systems. Radio and Voice Communications Control systems. Power Distribution systems. Meteorological systems. Airport systems engineering experience. Typically degree educated (but not mandatory).
