Workshop Manager (Automotive)
Salary: Up to GBP35k on experience with performance related bonus and car allowance of circa GBP5k
Location: York, North Yorkshire

My client is a leading national Fleet Management company with a number of locations around the UK, they are very well established and have a very strong culture. Due to their current level of business they have a requirement to recruit for a Workshop & Technical Manager to be based from their York office.

The Workshop Manager will be responsible for managing the operational delivery of the York office including stock control, parts and logistics in order to drive improvements in the companys service delivery. You will oversee the management of the team, including 121, tool box talks and company communication updates. The Workshop Manager will be responsible for ensure all documentation is completed to an accurate standard and ensure all necessary resources and systems are in place to allow the team to deliver the best possible service to external and internal customers.

You should have experience of working in a similar workshop/production environment within the Automotive or Fleet management sectors with extensive supplier management experience. Ideally you will have Whole Vehicle Type Approval experience, and ideally N1 Enhancement Scheme exposure. You will need to be qualified, ideally to degree level, in a relevant engineering subject. The role needs someone with a high level of communication skills and you should be comfortable with reporting data and business analysis to Board level and to ensure the facility and business can carry out effective business forecasting.

The Workshop Manager will need to have a strong H&S approach and should be up to date with current legislation relating to statutory Health & Safety, COSHH and the Environmental Protection Act. You will need to have an in depth knowledge of workshop systems including workshop reward systems and how to incentivise behaviour in order to drive performance.

Key Requirements for the Technical & Workshop Manager are:

Proven experience of working in a similar Workshop Manager role within the Automotive or Fleet Management sector
High level of supplier management experience and knowledge of Whole Vehicle Type Approval schemes
Ideally qualified to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline
Familiarity with workshop systems
Excellent people management experience
Full clean driving licence
