Job Title - Maintenance Manager
Location - Leicester
Salary - GBP36,000
Hour of Work - 8am - 4pm (Monday to Friday)
The Company
Our client is one the Midlands fastest growing companies in Waste Management and Processing. With the pressure on all businesses and Local Authorities to recycle as much of the waste they produce as possible, the Recycling Industry has been booming.
As part of their continued growth, our client have been expanding their Engineering function to provide round the clock cover of their fully automated waste processing facility in Leicester. Processing over 3000 tons of waste a week, their sortation lines can separate paper, cardboard, plastics, glass and metals completely autonomously thanks to the state of the art PLC Controlled plant.
Thanks to an internal promotion, they are now looking to recruit a Maintenance Manager to take over the day to day running of the Engineering team.
The Role
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities on site, overseeing a team of eight Maintenance Engineers. With business booming, the volume of waste needing to be processed on a daily basis is set to increase dramatically, so the plant needs to be running more efficiently. As such they will be looking for the successful candidate to implement a new Computerised Maintenance System to help not only manage daily and weekly PPMs, but allow the business to start on a LEAN and Continuous Improvement Process to make the plant run as efficiently as possible.
The business knows this is not a task that will accomplished overnight and the Maintenance Manager will need to get hands on in the beginning to assist the Maintenance Team, moving into a completely hands of role in 6 to 12 months, once the CMS system is established. From there it will be a case of identifying areas for improvement, tackling the tasks that will deliver the biggest gain either on efficiency, down time reduction, cost reduction or increase on processing speed.
The Candidate
The Business are looking for a Candidate who has experience managing a team of Engineers on a day to day basis, who either has experience, or is looking to gain experience, around CMS Management, LEAN and Continuous Improvement. Full training will be provided on the operation and running of the plant, plus guidance and mentoring from the existing Engineering Manager on LEAN and CI planning.
As a minimum candidates must have the following:
- A recognised Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Qualification.
- Man Management experience.
- Experience maintaining Automated lines.
Ideally the client would like to see people who also have the following experience:
- Management of a Computerised Maintenance System.
- Budget Control.
- Ordering of Spares and Parts.
- LEAN and Continuous Improvement planning.
Due to the size of the equipment, our client is particularly interested in speaking to people who have been working in any of the following industries: Quarry, Mining, Construction Products, Special Purpose Machinery or Automated Logistics. Candidates who have recently left the Armed Forces with experience maintaining heavy equipment are also of interest.
